Top 10 Halloween Movies according to Ben

Postby Ben from Blockbuster on Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:41 pm

It's Halloween time, and Horror movies are a guilty pleasure for many people; including me. I thought I'd pass along my favorites and see who might agree...or disagree...I'm sure we'll be discussing everyone's favorites this Friday at 8:45am on the Good Morning Show with John and Toby O.

10. The Ruins: a movie with a neat plot and a big twist on the "monster" movie themes.

9. Watcher in the Woods: a PG film that can scare the pants off a kid, and even some adults.

8. Poltergiest (1): Made me scared of clowns and ugly trees to this very day. Dude, just move!

7. It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown: If you're like me, you have to watch it every year...if not it's "Oh, no! I've missed it! I've missed the Great Pumkin!"

6. Halloween: the original with Jamie Lee Curtis. When you found out how unstopable Micheal Myers was...

5. April Fool's Day (the original is much better than the re-make): a movie with huge twists and lots of jumps.

4. Aliens (the 2nd film): although a sci-fi film, you cannot deny the horror elements in a film full of jumps and suspense.

3. Nightmare on Elm Street (1): An original idea from Wes Craven...You can't tell me that after seeing this film in the theaters that you felt comforatable going to sleep.

2. The Evil Dead: The first film is the best! Although I also like the Evil Dead 2 and the Army of Darkness. You have to love Bruce Campbell...the sequels are over the top; but the original was actually scary. When I first watched it on VHS (yeh, I'm that old), I dumped a whole plate of food in the floor I jumped so high!

1. The Exorsist: This film gave me nightmares and still disturbs me today. I guess it's more scary because it could actually happen. The remastered version is great...you won't want to watch this one alone.

There are so many more that I wish I could put in...like The Thing and Friday the 13th...even Chucky...or newer films like the Grudge or Shutter or any of the Saw Series--with the new one coming out in theaters. You'll just have to come to Blockbuster and check out our Halloween and Horror sections.
